Fix Your Smile With These Cosmetic Dentist Treatments

If you're unhappy with the way your smile currently looks, a trip to a cosmetic dentist might be what you need to regain your confidence. Even minor issues like stains and discolored spots can make you feel self-conscious about your smile. Next thing you know, you're hesitating to smile while taking pictures and feeling timid when you meet new people.

Fortunately for you, your dentist has many tools at his/her disposal that can be used to restore your smile to its full potential. Most of these procedures aren't invasive either; many of them can be performed with a single visit to the dentist.

Restore Your Smile

1. Composite Bonding

During this procedure, a composite resin is applied to your tooth to mask minor chips. Your cosmetic dentist will select one that's closest to the color of your natural teeth. It's one of the faster procedures as it only requires a short trip to the dentist.

2. Teeth whitening

Nowadays, this is one of the most popular ways to brighten your smile. It's an inexpensive procedure that is best done by a trained professional. If you decide to go with the less-safe do it at home products instead, make sure you purchase one of the top brands.

3. Veneers

Veneers are a great way to mask stains and discoloration on your teeth. They are designed to serve as a substitute for enamel. These devices are typically made out of porcelain or composites.

4. Crowns

Dental crowns are a great way to deal with severely damaged teeth likely as a result of tooth decay. The crown serves two purposes. It protects the affected tooth from further decay, and it's designed to look like the natural teeth it's replacing and blend in with the rest of your teeth. You also have the option of getting a gold crown.

5. Dental bridges

Dental bridges are another great way for you to regain your smile. These are typically fitted to the closest natural tooth on both ends, and they're designed to look just like your real teeth.

6. Implants

This is one of most effective ways to replace a missing tooth. Titanium rods are most commonly used, but there are also nonmetallic options available. One end of the implant is attached to your jaw bone, while the crown is attached to the externally-facing end.

7. Onlays and inlays

These are tooth-colored fillings that are typically made out of composites or porcelain to match the natural color of your teeth. Onlays and inlays are typically used to repair teeth at the back of your mouth that have been damaged to the point where fillings are no longer an option, but not damaged enough to need a crown.

8. Tooth contouring

Your cosmetic dentistcan reshape and smooth out your teeth with a dental drill.

These are just some of the procedures that can be done by your dentist to improve your smile. Schedule an appointment to find out more about the best ways to restore your teeth.
